Dallas Gaming Service - Network Migration

Over the course of the next two weeks we will be shifting our gaming service network in Dallas, TX to Internap BGP from Mzima. Our ventrilo and video relay services will, however, stay with our Mzima network. If you have a Dallas gaming server and notice that your server appears down, please check your billing account at https://www.hd-gaming.com/whmcs under "My Services" after logging in. Listed in your "My Services" are all of your active packages and the account information that pertains to them. This is by the far the easiest way to keep track of your server IPs, usernames, passwords, etc.

Chicago, IL - Ventrilo Maintenance

On the morning of Friday, August 22, 2008 between the hours of 3 AM and 7 AM CST, we will be migrating our ventrilo services to another facility in Chicago. While the network and routing should remain virtually identical, the lower power and support costs in the new facility make this a required a move.

New York, NY - Electrical Maintenance

As part of ongoing work to improve the efficiency of the electrical infrastructure of our data center in New York, we will be required to power down all equipment on one of our circuits undergoing changes. This will only require a brief period of downtime - we estimate 10 minutes or so. The work has been scheduled to occur around 6:30 AM (EST) on Tuesday, August 5th.

Dallas Ventrilo Rack Movement **Emergency Move**

Update: This has been completed without issue

We need to move our Ventrilo systems in Dallas to another rack to balance out our power distribution. This is expected to take place between 5:30PM EST and 6:30PM EST on 8/3/2008. There should be no further impact besides the short downtime as all IPs are staying bound to the same hardware. If you find your Dallas ventrilo down after this time period, please file a support ticket or restart your ventrilo from the control panel.

Video Relay System Upgrades

Update: Despite some issues that forced us to move our Ventrilo services over to the same rack as these systems (due to power distribution issues), we now have 1/2 of the relay clients over on the new systems. While all client relays are essentially running on the new systems, we have not been able to get the IPs unbound, setup on a new vlan, bound to the new machine and then have the router arp cache cleared to make this visible to the world. Only 1/2 of the IPs we use for relays are working on the new machine presently (sourcetv5-sourcetv8.hd-gaming.com). Everyone using something else for their relay service will still be on their old systems until tomorrow morning when we can limit interruption to swap IPs. If you are using a SourceTV relay on the Sourcetv5 to Sourcetv8 DNS, please use https://SourcetvX.hd-gaming.com:10000 for your control panel url as https://relay.hd-gaming.com:10000 points to the base IP of one of the older relay systems and would not give you actual control of your server. Sorry for any confusion and delay.

We are upgrading all of our Video Relay systems from Core2Duo systems to single Quadcore Xeon X3210's with 4GB Ram each. This should allow us to extend our video services to more persons with a more stable and jitter-free experience. The IPs and DNS will NOT be changing, we will be porting the IPs over to the new machine in the next few hours. As 1-3AM EST on a Saturday morning is about as "non-prime" as we can get in competitive gaming service hours, we don't expect clients to have noticeable interruption of service. If there is, our apologies. Hopefully the upgrades are well worth the short period of downtime expected (15-20 minutes).

Dallas Internap BGP No Longer Offered - 7/14/2008

After some serious routing issues affecting the Internap BGP network we have been using as a backup in Dallas, we have decided to no longer carry the network. Mostly affecting Comcast clients, the routing has not been up to our expectations. All clients currently hosted on Internap BGP will be transferred to Mzima before the end of July. If you find your Internap BGP service down, please check your email and your billing account with us at https://www.hd-gaming.com/whmcs. Your new information is always posted in your account details under Services and in Email History.

Update: Completed The transfer of all clients has been completed. If you were utilizing our Internap BGP network and could not find the server information email we sent to you, please contact us.

Chicago Network Consolidation **Completed**

After comparing our two Chicago networks over the past 3-4 months we have decided that there are fewer routing issues for our customers with our Servernap network (formerly our backup network). For the sake of our sanity at carrying duplicate Chicago networks, and to make things easier for clients ordering service, we are going to pull all hardware from our Mzima network and place it with the Servernap network. This changeover will take place around June 11th, 2008. Downtime will be minimal as we plan to do this in the early mornings and few, if any clients, should even notice anything except the new server IP they'll receive in their accounts.

Please bear with us during this changeover. Despite this being a relatively simple procedure, Murphy's Law is nasty and inevitable. We are always available via support ticket or #hidef-support on IRC.GameSurge.net for any questions or concerns about your service. If your Chicago IP suddenly stops working around the time of this changeover, check your "My Services" and "Email History" tabs in your WHMCS account to see if there is a new IP for you to use. If not, please do not hesitate to contact our support services for assistance. If you do not yet have a WHMCS account (and some older clients do not), please register for one at https://www.hd-gaming.com/whmcs/register.php. Please then file a support ticket under that account with your Paypal email, account username and IP. We will fill all of your service and payment information into the new system so you up to speed.

That is all for now, I'm going to work on getting this thing to show up on the front page of the Support area so it's not a random link you need to search for.
